Tasting Notes
One of my favourite new world rose. It's dry and light in colour, much like Provence rose. It is, however, made from Tempranillo, which gives in intensity of flavour and lusciousness with hints of spice and other savoury nuances. Grown organically and made in the cellar without additions except for a small amount of sulfur at bottling. - Winery Note
Dormilona is the boutique natural-wine project of winemaker Josephine (Jo) Perry, established in 2012 in Margaret River, Western Australia. The name—Spanish for “lazy bones”—is an affectionate nod to Jo’s laid-back surf-inspired work ethic in Spain, but it belies a winemaking philosophy defined by hands-on care and minimal intervention.
Jo crafts her wines with purity and precision that reflect each vintage and site. She sources organic and biodynamic fruit—most notably from her own Yungarra vineyard—and works with natural ferments, gentle extraction, and seldom uses oak. Her range spans elegantly structured single-site bottlings and a playful “House Wines” collection, including amphora-aged and skin-contact styles that showcase both subtlety and creativity.
Dormilona’s wines are celebrated for their clarity, texture, and quiet intensity—distinctive expressions that reveal both regional character and Jo’s thoughtful, restrained approach to winemaking.
