From high-altitude vineyards on the volcanic soils of Coghills Creek near Ballarat, this Pinot Noir opens with aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry and cranberry, layered with rose petal, spice and a subtle earthy edge. The palate is fine and energetic, with juicy red fruit framed by silky tannins and a lively acid line, giving the wine both delicacy and drive. Mineral and savoury notes add depth, leading to a long, precise finish. A cool-climate Pinot of clarity and poise, it reflects both terroir and the restrained hand of Eastern Peake’s winemaking. - Chris L
Owen Latta was raised on the land around Ballarat. His folks, owners of the vineyard/winery Eastern Peak, have laid the groundwork for who is now making some of the most progressive wines in the country under his own label - Latta. They're exciting, thought-provoking and loveable wines from Ballarat, Pyrenees and Grampians in Victoria.
