Tasting Notes

We say it every year and we’ll say it again; this is simply one of the greatest rosé wines of Champagne. The blend is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Then there is ta small addition of Egly’s Coteaux Champenois Rouge (the finest red wine of the AOC in our opinion—and not only ours!) that gives the wine its colour and a great deal of character as well. Dosage is a negligible two grams per litre. The fruit is from 100% Grand Cru vines, grown by one of the most meticulous vignerons in the region. This is why it’s so good. Interestingly this is always Egly’s most delicate wine. Whereas power is typically a key feature of any Egly wine, the Rosé is unbelievably fine, perfumed and red-fruited; something truly special. - Importer Note

'Few producers can equal Francis Egly in skill and experience, and larger houses cannot hope to emulate the cultivation norms, " - Michel Bettane, The World's Greatest Wines.

'What Larmandier-Bernier achieves with Chardonnay, so Egly-Ouriet manages for Pinot Noir: wines of riveting purity and concentration. " - Andrew Jefford, The New France

'Egly-Ouriet is one of the reference-point growers in Champagne, with a deep selection of wines that offer remarkable transparency to site, vintage and variety ... These are among the most pure, unmanipulated Champagnes readers will come across, and the estate's new releases are all highly recommended. " - Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate
