Tasting Notes
Alicante Bouschet, known locally as Garnacha Tintorera, has a poor reputation with the Spaniards compared to its parent grape Grenache. But that wouldn’t see the Envinate team shying away from the challenge in producing a wine with substance. Adding the nearly extinct Moravia Agria to the blend for underlying structure, the Tintorera is fresh with vibrant flavours of plums, orange peel and spice. The name Albahra translates from Moorish to ‘small sea”, and the limestone minerality from the drained seabed surrounding the Albacete vineyards is evident in the glass. - Peta W
