Tasting Notes
When Pinot Meunier is made right as a table wine it's very very good! As far as Australian wine is concerned it has been a lost variety. Having been planted originally for sparkling wines, growers began grafting it over to the more notable varieties of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and boy was that a mistake. This Pinot Meunier by Tony Fikkers is a testament to what good Pinot Meunier is. Juicy and floral, light to medium bodied and a no brainer when it comes to drinkability. There are only really limited amounts so get onto it! - Chris L
Simple winemaking, good drinking. That's what Anthony Fikkers aspires to. He sources small parcels of fruit from unique vineyards in the Yarra Valley and, with minimal intervention, crafts them into honest, affordable, 'smashable' wines.
