Tasting Notes
A 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from old vines dating back to 1974. Bright and lifted with redcurrant, raspberry, and cherry notes, framed by lively acidity and a subtle peppery edge. The 12 months in barrel bring harmony and polish, giving the wine poise and a refined texture. Light-bodied yet focused, it finishes clean and crisp, with a touch of wild herb and earth adding savoury nuance. Best enjoyed in its youth while the fruit remains vibrant and energetic. - Pete L
Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard was founded in 1985 in Chassagne-Montrachet and have gradually built up their portfolio of choice holdings in some of Burgundy's greatest vineyards. All wines are vinified with native yeasts and since the late 80s, they have purchased their own custom French oak through a courtier de bois (wood broker), who ages the oak for them for two years, then delivers it to a local cooper to finish their custom barrels. This Domaine is a respected mainstay traditionalist Burgundian winemaking.
