Tasting Notes
A delicious red and white blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc creating a mashup and of red berries, aromatic characters, citrus (think campari) with Riesling acidity to tie it all together. A very fine Pet Nat. - Pete L
Ghost Rock Wines was established by Cate and Colin Arnold in 2001 on a run-down property just East of Devonport, with only a handful of vines.
There are no neighbours, no-one to follow or copy, no regional ‘manual’ or ‘playbook’ to follow, We’ve had to crack the viticultural code completely independent here. It’s why our pruning program is so tailored, our vine spacings are tailored, our clone mix is tailored, our whole program is tailored and continually tested and teased. Improvement is part and parcel of our business and our team.
There’s nothing earth-shattering or groundbreaking in the winery... it all comes down to the quality of the fruit. We tweak around the edges as every region does; a little less whole-bunch here, a little longer cold-soak there, some oak selections that drive mid-palette and texture perhaps more. It’s all interesting and valid, but it’s not what has us where we are today.
