Tasting Notes
A complex Sauvignon Blanc for the money from Orange in NSW. Battonage (lees stirring) has created this seamless and pure expression of the variety. It's more French in style, than Australian, with its leesy texture and dialed back methoxypyrazine (grassy) character. Picked at perfect ripeness and made with a steady hand makes this Sauvignon Blanc one I really want to drink. Good value too. - Chris L
Gilbert Family Wines began its journey in 2004 by fifth generation winemaker Simon Gilbert. Simon has always had a strong desire to do things his own way and create a label true to himself, at the same time paying tribute to his heritage. The winery and cellar door is based in Mudgee (NSW), with grapess being sourced from Mudgee, Orange, Hilltops and Tumbarumba. Will Gilbert (Simon's son) is now at the helm and the wines have never looked better. Will has gained experience in Burgundy under Benjamin Leroux and you can see this influence in his Pinot Noir's and Chardonnay's, the wines he holds in highest regard. - Winery Note
