Tasting Notes
One of our favourite producers from the Apple Isle. Nick Glaetzer is making some of the best value wines but also some of the best more premium wines too. This falls into the great value category cause that's exactly what it is. Very good Pinot Noir for the price. The Nouveau is Nick's early release Pinot Noir so you can expect a real representation of fruit vibrancy and life.
It's a Wow kind of wine, from the first smell of lifted red cherries - likely from the winemaking style of Carbonic Maceration. Palate gives more of that fine, forward cherry fruit and a touch of spice.13.5% alc. Quality uplifting pinot. Value. - Michael L
Glaetzer-Dixon is a pioneering Tasmanian winery founded by Nick Glaetzer, a member of the renowned Barossa winemaking family. Drawn to the cool-climate potential of Tasmania, Nick established his label in Hobart in 2008, quickly gaining recognition for crafting finely tuned wines that marry regional freshness with depth and texture. In 2011, he became the first Tasmanian winemaker to be awarded Australian Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller Wine.
The estate works closely with select vineyards across Tasmania, sourcing fruit from carefully chosen sites in the Coal River Valley, Derwent Valley and beyond. Pinot Noir is the cornerstone, expressed through a range of cuvées from bright, approachable styles to more structured, cellar-worthy bottlings. Alongside Pinot, Glaetzer-Dixon produces expressive Syrah, Shiraz blends, Riesling and other small-batch wines, all crafted with a philosophy of minimal intervention, balance and precision.
Marked by purity, vibrancy and a clear sense of place, Glaetzer-Dixon has become a benchmark for Tasmanian winemaking, showcasing the island’s potential on both a national and international stage.
