Tasting Notes

A blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir from vines near Vosne-Romanée, this Passetoutgrain is lively and aromatic, showing crunchy red fruit—cranberry, strawberry and cherry—alongside subtle pepper, violets and fresh herbs. The palate is light, energetic and mouth-watering, with soft tannins and a crisp, mineral edge making it wildly drinkable. A vibrant, charming wine built for early enjoyment and effortless refreshment. - Chris L

Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is one of the classic names of Vosne-Romanée, producing some of the Côte de Nuits’ most perfumed and finely detailed Pinot Noirs. The estate was founded in 1962 by Alain Hudelot and today is led by his grandson Charles van Canneyt, who has elevated the domaine to a new level of precision while maintaining its deep sense of tradition.

The domaine farms around 10 hectares of enviable vineyard holdings centred in Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges, including coveted parcels in Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg, Les Malconsorts, as well as top village sites like Bas de Combe and wines from Chambolle and Nuits that punch well above their classification. The vines, many of them old, grow in classic Burgundian terroirs of limestone, clay and fine gravel that give the wines their trademark perfume and mineral-lined finesse.

Viticulture is sustainable and thoughtful, with an emphasis on low yields, meticulous canopy management and careful harvest timing to capture ripeness without sacrificing energy. In the cellar, Charles follows a restrained, classical approach: largely destemmed fruit, gentle extraction, native-yeast fermentations and élevage in French oak (typically 20–30% new for village and premier cru wines). The aim is transparency and purity—wines that speak clearly of site rather than winemaking.

Hudelot-Noëllat wines are celebrated for their lifted aromatics, seamless textures and sensual Vosne-style elegance. From the beautifully fragrant village bottlings to the profound depth of the grands crus, the domaine remains a benchmark for Burgundy lovers seeking terroir clarity, refinement and age-worthy structure.
