Tasting Notes
The bouquet is bold, meaty, iron, dense black berries. Taste black fruits sweetness, with hints of cassis or cherry liqueur and oak smoke and mineral too. It's vibrant and full bodied. Decanting please.
Jean-Luc Jamet is an undeniable icon and celebrated producer, making some of the most exquisite Côte-Rôtie and Côte du Rhône wines. Originally working with his brother Jean-Paul at the famed family estate "Domaine Jamet", they separated in 2013 due to their differences. The vineyards, comprising of 16 hectares in the best areas of Côte-Rôtie and Côte du Rhône, were divided into two equal parts.
Since 1991, when Jean-Luc took over the family estate with his brother, he strived to grow and plant vineyards in the best parts of Côte-Rôtie. Very famous areas such as "Lancement", "La Landonne", "Bonnivières", "Les Rochains" and other complex land for Syrah. Jean-Luc was then teaming up with his brother to make the wines.
With a brand new winery and old vineyards at hand, Jean-Luc, the phoenix of Côte Rôtie started a new adventure. He is now free to apply his fastidious and unparalleled work ethic in the vineyard and to make wines of extreme delicacy yet powerful and profound. The mark of the world's best wines.
The philosophie applied by Jean-Luc is the same that made their family wines very famous, though now they have a gentler touch. The wines seems to be more approachable young to the otherwise sometimes austere style of the original Domaine.
What makes the Côte-Rôtie wines from Jean-Luc Jamet so special is the blend of more than ten different plots of vineyards located in the northern part (considered the most qualitative) of Côte-Rôtie. It is a mosaïque of very different rocky soils composed of different degrees of schist and granit. These are the many shades that you'll find in this delicate and very complex wine. - Importer Note
