Tasting Notes
The debut release from Chris Jessop, who's day job is making wines at Logan so he knows a thing or two about winemaking. Naturally we were really excited to try these wines. Sourced from a single vineyard in Orange. The Pinot Noir is bright yet full of savoury nuance from the addition of some whole bunches. Freshly ripe cherries and hints of tart raspberry acidity add to the earthy characters creating a very fun wine. - Pete L
Jessop Wines is the small-batch project of brothers Matthew and Chris Jessop, established in 2021 and based in Orange, NSW. Winemaker Chris spent a decade working across some of the world’s great cool-climate regions, including the Mosel, Central Otago and Hawke’s Bay, before making Orange home. Working with a small group of growers and high-altitude vineyard sites, they produce single-vineyard wines with a focus on Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, alongside small parcels of less familiar varieties. Wild fermentation, minimal intervention and a focus on texture and freshness define the approach, with the wines made to reflect the vineyard and vintage rather than a house style.
