Tasting Notes
Young-gun winemaker Jared Dixon is back with his Jilly wines. Coming out of the New England area of New South Wales, Jilly wines are natural, funky and down-to-earth, and the Big Cats blend of Touriga and Tempranillo is no exception. Luscious dark fruits on the nose, highlighted by seductive sweet spice notes - think cinnamon and aniseed. The palate is a mouth-filling burst of ripe fruit, supported by fine tannins. This wine would be perfect at a backyard BBQ, or even lightly chilled as an aperitif, as we head into the long summer nights. - Chris L
Jared Dixon is a guy you want to keep your eye on. He's producing the most interesting wines in New South Wales right now. Jared's wines go under the label of Jilly where he sources fruit from the district around Armidale known as New England. Nebbiolo is his thing, but don't for a second pass on the opportunity to try his other wines - they're exciting, always intersting and so drinkable by anyone's standards.
