Tasting Notes
The Alte Reben comes from Kaesler's Marananga Vineyard, planted in 1899. It's given the royal treatment with 19 months maturation in French oak (35% new), bottled unfined and unfiltered. Dark, brooding fruits lurk in the glass - blood plum and blackberry, accented by dark chocolate and delicate spice, with a subtle ferrous mineral note. It's powerful but restrained, with the palate showing a refined elegance framed by supple tannins. An outstanding example of Barossa Shiraz, that will live long into the future. - Felix G
