Tasting Notes
Kewin (Keke) Descombes is the son of the famous Georges Descombes, yet he is forging his own path, making fresher and crunchier styles of Beaujolais. His Moulin a Vent is light bodied and red fruited with a little spice and stemmy freshness. As always Moulin a Vent is the most tannic of all the Beaujolais crus, but don’t be deterred by this, it works well within the wine. Can be served chilled. - Chris L
Kewin Descombes is the son of legendary producer George Descombes whose wines we will hopefully receive soon. Kewin's first vintage was in 2013 at the young age of 21 using parcels of fruit that his father has been gradually transferring over to him.
He adopts a very similar approach to his father in the vineyard and winery so we are talking about a focus on organic viticulture nurturing the old vines. Wild yeast ferments, minimal to no sulphur additions, semi carbonic maceration and elevage is all done in oak.
His wines are structured and elegant with uplifting acidity and sit alongside some of the very best producers from the region. To be making wines of this calibre at such a young age is certainly something to be excited about.
