Tasting Notes
Excellent value Trebbiano here and in a very smart bottle too! This is perfect mid week white wine if you want something crisp, dry and refreshing that over delivers for the price. - Pete L
La Valentina is a leading estate in Abruzzo, founded in 1990 on the hills overlooking Pescara in the subzone of Spoltore. From the outset, the Di Properzio family has focused on elevating Abruzzo’s native varieties—particularly Montepulciano and Trebbiano—through sustainable farming and thoughtful winemaking.
The vineyards, situated on clay-limestone soils a few kilometres from the Adriatic, benefit from cooling sea breezes and significant day-night temperature swings, which encourage both ripeness and freshness. Farming is conducted with an emphasis on biodiversity and minimal chemical intervention, with many practices aligned to organic principles.
In the cellar, La Valentina works with gentle extraction, natural fermentations where possible, and carefully judged oak, aiming to showcase purity and terroir rather than winemaking artifice. Their range spans vibrant entry-level wines, elegant single-vineyard bottlings like Spelt and Bellovedere, and refined whites that highlight the potential of Trebbiano and Pecorino.
La Valentina has become a benchmark for modern Abruzzo—producing wines that balance authenticity and drinkability with depth, structure and a clear sense of place.
