Tasting Notes
Every year I look forward to seeing the release of these wines from Lamoresca. They display the essence of natural wine, in particularly, every vintage is different and exciting and amazing. The Mascalesi is from Mount Etna - 100% Nerello Mascalese - and the more elegant and perfumed of all the Lamoresca reds. Don't be fooled though, it is seriously structed with incredible depth of tannin and layer of flavour. I would drink this wine every day if I could.
Lamoresca is located on a hill, at a height of 430 meters above sea level on sandstone and clay-limestone. The climate is typically Mediterranean; dry, hot summer with little rain. The agricultural farm Lamoresca is situated in the heart of Sicily, in the small town of San Michele di Ganzaria, in the Gigliotto district. In the year 2000 we Purchased our first piece of land, an olive grove with 46 very ancient olive trees of the local Moorish variety, after which we named our farm Lamoresca. Year after year the farm has grown and now we cultivate roughly 10 hectares of land between vineyard and olive grove with the greatest respect for nature.
