Tasting Notes
Fun! Wild ideas and experimental batches. An opposite direction to terroir, the usual mindset in this cellar! Classic varieties being pushed to see what new personalities we can get out of them. Great vineyards also play a big role here to back up the texture, fruit and acid profiles.
Rattlesnake each year is made up of many different skin contact ferments, Riesling, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Grenache, all seem to work harmoniously together to produce a madly delicious, quenching, exotic skin contact wine that punches above and delivers time and time again. - Winery Note
Owen Latta was raised on the land around Ballarat. His folks, owners of the vineyard/winery Eastern Peak, have laid the groundwork for who is now making some of the most progressive wines in the country under his own label - Latta. They're exciting, thought-provoking and loveable wines from Ballarat, Pyrenees and Grampians in Victoria. He has a natural approach in the cellar and is sourcing organically farmed fruit where possible. You have to try these wines, any of them, they're fantastic! - Chris L
