Tasting Notes
When Pineau d'Aunis is made well there's really nothing like it. The variety produces such detailed lighter bodied wines full of red bramble and spice. This wine has about 10% Gamay added to it to add an extra layer of tart cherry and raspberry. An incredible red that deserves a chill, so much to love about this wine. - Pete L
Domaine Le Facteur is a natural-wine project in the Loire Valley born from the partnership of Fabien Brutout and Mathieu Cosme, rooted in Vouvray and neighbouring Touraine. Fabien joined Cosme’s team in 2008 and in 2013 they launched Le Facteur to make “wines for friends” — fresh, drinkable wines with a focus on purity, minimal intervention, and playfulness. The domaine now owns about 6 hectares of organic vineyards, planted on calcareous clay soils, with vines of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pineau d’Aunis, Gamay and Pinot Noir.
In the cellar, fermentations are native and minimal additives are used — wines rarely exceed 50 mg/L of sulfur. Bottlings include sparkling, still whites, rosés and reds, often made in small lots. Le Facteur’s style seeks to be lively, textural and authentic: wines that speak clearly of their terroir, drinkability, and the energy of Loire natural wine, while maintaining a light, soulful character.
