Tasting Notes
A dry and very powerful Chenin Blanc from Vouvray. An oxidatively handled wine showing ripe fruited, richly flavoured and rather honeyed. This being said there is still a balance to the wine brought about by it's mineral backbone. A food wine for sure - hard cheeses or chicken dishes. - Chris L
100% Chenin barrel fermented in old french oak and aged for 7 months before bottling. Fabien and Mathieu have managed to balance a laser-sharp mid-palette with a rounded, juicy finish resulting in a beautifully expressive and lifted example of Chenin. - Importer Note
Domaine Le Facteur is a natural-wine project in the Loire Valley born from the partnership of Fabien Brutout and Mathieu Cosme, rooted in Vouvray and neighbouring Touraine. Fabien joined Cosme’s team in 2008 and in 2013 they launched Le Facteur to make “wines for friends” — fresh, drinkable wines with a focus on purity, minimal intervention, and playfulness. The domaine now owns about 6 hectares of organic vineyards, planted on calcareous clay soils, with vines of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pineau d’Aunis, Gamay and Pinot Noir.
In the cellar, fermentations are native and minimal additives are used — wines rarely exceed 50 mg/L of sulfur. Bottlings include sparkling, still whites, rosés and reds, often made in small lots. Le Facteur’s style seeks to be lively, textural and authentic: wines that speak clearly of their terroir, drinkability, and the energy of Loire natural wine, while maintaining a light, soulful character.
