Tasting Notes
This skin-contact blend from Alsace combines Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, with Gewurztraminer component really singing the loudest. It pours a soft orange hue, opening with citrus peel and gentle spice. The palate is savoury and textured, showing tea-like notes, quince and candied orange with fine, integrated tannins and a fresh finish. A characterful, food-friendly orange wine that benefits from a little air. Wonderful drinking. - Pete L
Les Frères Engel is a small family domaine based in Orschwiller, in the heart of Alsace, now run by brothers Pierre and Jacques Engel. Farming organically and working with a strong focus on their vineyards and soils, the brothers produce a vibrant, contemporary expression of the region. Fermentations are spontaneous and cellar work is kept deliberately simple, with minimal additions and intervention. Their wines are energetic and characterful, balancing Alsace’s natural generosity with freshness, texture and a distinctly savoury edge.
