Tasting Notes
This organically farmed Pinot Gris comes from deep sandy soils on the slopes of the Praelatenberg Grand Cru, with vines aged between 20 and 55 years. It’s a bright, energetic take on Gris, showing fresh pear and apricot before drifting into subtle tropical notes. A clear, driving line of acidity holds everything together, giving the wine lift and focus. It feels distinctly Alsace, just seen through a fresher, more modern lens. - Pete L
Les Frères Engel is a small family domaine based in Orschwiller, in the heart of Alsace, now run by brothers Pierre and Jacques Engel. Farming organically and working with a strong focus on their vineyards and soils, the brothers produce a vibrant, contemporary expression of the region. Fermentations are spontaneous and cellar work is kept deliberately simple, with minimal additions and intervention. Their wines are energetic and characterful, balancing Alsace’s natural generosity with freshness, texture and a distinctly savoury edge.
