Tasting Notes
This biodynamically farmed Nero d’Avola comes from low-yielding bush vines planted on clay-limestone soils near the coast. Fermented naturally and given an extended maceration, the wine then spends a long maturation in cement before further resting in bottle. The result is a deeply expressive style, showing dark berries, subtle earth and spice, with a firm but polished structure. Despite its depth, the wine carries a natural balance and freshness that keeps it poised and refined, a thoughtful and site-driven expression of Sicilian Nero d’Avola. - Aaron C
The Marabino winery is located in Noto in the south-east of Sicily in the 'Buonivini' and 'Barone' regions of the renowned DOC districts of 'Eloro' and 'Noto'. Established in 2002 the winery overlooks 35 hectares of vineyards, its terracotta colour dominating the surrounding landscape. Marabino uses an organic and biodynamic philosophy in producing the finest grapes. The winery focuses mainly on the native vines of the region ‚– Moscato di Noto and Nero d'Avola, together with a careful selection of Chardonnay clones. Marabino is now recognised as one of the top producers of fine wines from this area. There is no sulphur added to these wines in the winemaking. - Importer Note
