Tasting Notes
The '22 'Mistral' is 100% Carignan Blanc from 20 year old organically farmed bush vines at 250m on clay-limestone with galets roulés, schist and silex in Ferrals-les-Corbières, hand harvested, direct pressed, fermented on native yeasts and aged for around 18 months on fine lees in neutral barrels. Named after the powerful, cold and dry northwest wind that channels down the Rhône Valley and cleanses vineyards across southern France, that constant pressure brings tension and definition to Carignan Blanc, while the gentle time on lees adds breadth and quiet complexity without ever masking the terroir. Fresh, saline and textural with restrained fruit, real mineral depth. - Pete L
