Tasting Notes
Siroc is a blend of 65% Muscat à Petits Grains and 35% Muscat d'Alexandrie from 55 year old Guyot trained organic vines at 380m on ancient riverbed soils in Cassagnes in the Roussillon, the Petit Grains fermented as whole bunches on skins for 9 days, the Alexandrie destemmed and fermented separately, both then aged for 24 months on fine lees in old oak barriques. The wine is aromatic but never overblown, balancing generosity with freshness and a real line of tension, all floral and spice with a quiet hum of salinity underneath. A textured, distinctly Mediterranean expression of a grape too often pigeonholed, refined here through a careful, almost Burgundian touch. - Pete L
