Tasting Notes
The Valpolicella Superiore has a higher than usual proportion of dried grapes, which are usually reserved for the top Amarone wine. The wine sits halfway between the entry level Valpolicella and the Amarone in weight - it's serious, but not too serious - showing a mix of red and dark fruits that give it layers and personality. The tannins are fine and persistent throughout the palate and the acidity is prominent, making a wine that can hit the cellar for a fair few years to come. Brilliance. - Chris L
If you love the wines from Valpolicella but you haven't heard of Marion then you should probably listen up. Alongside Quintarelli, Marion, is one of our favourite producers of Valpolicella, and there is obvious reason for that. Marion's winemaker Celestino Gaspari worked for Giuseppe Quintarelli for 15 years and it is very evident in both the finished wines and the production method. - Chris L
