Tasting Notes
A blend of Aglianico and Piedirosso from the clay-limestone slopes of Irpinia and Sannio, this ruby-toned red opens with bright scents of plum, strawberry and cherry alongside subtle hints of pepper and cinnamon. The palate is mid-weight and even, carrying its fruit with gentle grip and clean acidity, finishing with a lingering touch of black cherry that keeps the wine fresh and approachable. - Pete L
Mastroberardino is a historic, family-run winery in Campania, Italy, widely credited with preserving indigenous ancient grape varieties and elevating the region's wines to world-class status. Known as the "guardians" of Campanian wine history, the family has a legacy spanning centuries and is particularly famous for its work with Aglianico, Fiano, and Greco grapes.
Mastroberardino owns approximately 250 hectares of vineyards across various sub-regions in Campania, focusing on the heart of the three DOCGs: Taurasi, Fiano di Avellino, and Greco di Tufo. The vineyards feature diverse soils, including volcanic deposits, clay-limestone, and marl, which contribute distinct characteristics to the wines. The winemaking approach blends tradition with innovation.
