Tasting Notes
A crunchy Beaujolais from a plot in Fleurie with granite and clay soil. To see this wine really express itself you need to decant it to uncover the red fruits beneath. A red fruited and savoury beauty, for drinking now or wait a few years. 13% alc. Mouthwatering stuff. - Michael L
Domaine Métrat is a classic Morgon grower-producer in Beaujolais, focused on articulating the region’s most structured schist-granitic slopes. The estate farms old-vine Gamay parcels, especially on Côte du Py, where soils of weathered granite, schist and iron-rich decomposed stone give Morgon its mineral-lined power. The cellar regime is traditional, with native yeasts, partial or full whole-cluster ferments depending on parcel, minimal sulphur, no filtration, and élevage in neutral oak or foudre to protect site energy, resulting in wines of perfume, mineral tension and dark-fruited transparency without weight.
