Tasting Notes
After visiting Austria and Central Europe one holiday I wondered if Blaufrankisch would be my kind of red - you know, hard to find the good stuff as a tourist. I like my reds to be elegant, without a hit of drying smoked oak. Well, I have since found a few good ones, including this Moric from Burgenland in the red heart of cool Austria. The 2014 has a nose and taste of dark savoury fruits, but none of that smokey woodsy dryness. Clean red and black fruits are just so slurpable from opening, with fine chalky mouthfeel that settles-in with food too. 12.5% alc may explain that. A fine drinkable Blaufrankisch. - Michael L
