Tasting Notes
Shocked at how good this is for the money. Hate to open with price but this is true bang for your buck Shiraz. Mid weight, spicy, hints of savoury complexity with depth and well framed tannin. - Pete L
Mount Trio is a family-owned vineyard in the Porongurup sub-region of Western Australia’s Great Southern, established in 1989 by winemaker Gavin Berry and his wife Gill Graham. Their eight-hectare vineyard sits alongside the Porongurup National Park, with a northerly aspect, cooling breezes and gravelly loam soils providing ideal conditions for cool-climate varieties. The home vineyard is now dedicated entirely to Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, while fruit for other wines is sourced from nearby Mount Barker and Frankland River. Gavin brings more than three decades of Great Southern winemaking experience, including long tenures at Plantagenet and West Cape Howe. The wines are classic and restrained in style, with an emphasis on freshness, varietal character and the distinctive cool-climate character of the Great Southern.
