Tasting Notes
A cracking Adelaide Hills Chardonnay from Ngeringa, built largely on fruit from their biodynamic Summit vineyard with a few grower parcels rounding it out. It's whole-bunch pressed into French oak and wild fermented with a light hand, and the result balances power and finesse beautifully. Expect layers of stone fruit, citrus, creamy texture and a gentle nutty, vanilla richness from the oak, all held together by a fresh line of acidity with a dash of lime. Rich but energetic, and drinking beautifully now. - Pete L
Janet and Erinn Klein started Ngeringa in the Adelaide Hills with one aim - to produce the greatest wine possible without compromising their ethics and values. The land was originally part of the famous biodynamic Jurlique herb farm and has been farmed this way for 40 years. Today, it is home to close-planted vines and roaming Scottish Highland cows, sheep, chickens, a heritage orchard and extensive native revegetation which help promote a thriving ecosystem. They work the vines with the rhythms of the seasons and take no shortcuts in the winemaking to produce wines with energy and vitality that are true reflections of the land and vintage that they came from.
