Tasting Notes
Perihelion is a side label from Chris Coulter of Coulter Wines based in the Adelaide Hills. We tried this alongside his estate stuff and I actually preferred this. Idea is he's purchasing fruit for this label and producing a fresher, modern expression of Chardonnay that also represents great value and I think he's nailed it. The wine gets a bit of oak treatment but it's handled very well so it doesn't obscure or overpower. It's all about the harder orchard fruits and citrus for me with notes of fresh apple, under ripe nectarine and grapefruit. Finishes dry. 12% alc - Pete L
The Perihelion label is a second tier label to Coulter Wines. Based in the Adelaide Hills, the Perihelion wines are based on sustainability, in the vineyards, the winery and the packaging. They represent excellent value for money too.
