Tasting Notes
A beautiful vineyard and a beautiful wine. Clos de Coulaine is planted to 100% Chenin Blanc in the Savennieres appellation of the Loire Valley (one of the best).
Planted on sandy soils and on a windy site, you can see the terroir ooze from the glass. It’s fine and elegant, even at a high alc of 14.5%. Ripe and dried stone fruits, quince and flowers. It’s intricate. There are elements of botrytis on the nose and texturally on the palate, but it only adds to the depth of the wine. - Chris L
