Tasting Notes
Dusty earth is in the DNA of this unctuous Nero dAvola. Complex; floral; light on its feet; bright red fruits; and savoury. Gives a lingering lightness of feel in the mouth, but then ends in the savoury spectrum, with chalky tannins melding in. Bring in the meaty pasta. Just 13% alcohol. - Michael L
Poggio Anima is a collaborative project between Italian winemaker Riccardo Campinoti of Le Ragnaie in Montalcino and U.S. importer Vine Street Imports, created to showcase honest, regional Italian wines with personality and accessibility. The label sources fruit from organically and sustainably farmed vineyards across multiple regions—Sicily, Puglia, Basilicata and Tuscany—each wine named for a mythological figure that reflects its spirit and provenance.
The philosophy is rooted in authenticity: indigenous varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Primitivo, Sangiovese and Aglianico are crafted with minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations where possible, and restrained use of oak, producing wines that are vibrant, terroir-driven and true to their origins. Poggio Anima offers a modern, approachable face of Italian wine, combining regional integrity with a playful and distinctive identity.
