I haven't tasted a better Chardonnay at this price in the last 12 months, and this is exactly why I love the Praeter wines. Magpie Block is a dry grown, organically farmed slope at 220 metres in the Mount Lofty Ranges foothills, with sandy loam, ironstone and quartz over limestone and clay. Whole bunch pressed, it goes into French hogsheads with full solids for 10 months on lees. The result is fresh and clear, with the minerality and structure of the site shining right through. - Pete L
