Tasting Notes
The wine offers a delightful bouquet of sherbet, Tahitian lime zest, meyer lemon, poached pear, and honeycomb. Its slightly generous palate is balanced with clean, fine acidity, resulting in a lingering finish. The overall experience is simply moreish, leaving you craving for another sip. - Winemaker Note
Pressing Matters is one of Tasmania’s most focused and respected Riesling specialists, based in the Coal River Valley where the cool climate, long ripening season and ancient dolerite-derived soils suit the variety perfectly.
Established by Greg and Michelle Melick, the estate built its reputation on a unique range of Rieslings bottled at different sweetness levels (indicated by their “R” scale), each made with precision, purity and an unwavering commitment to balance. The vineyards are sustainably managed, hand-tended and low yielding, producing fruit of exceptional clarity and natural acidity. While Riesling is the core, small amounts of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc further showcase the site’s finesse. Across the range, Pressing Matters wines are defined by their tension, mineral drive and longevity, cementing the estate as a benchmark for cool-climate Australian Riesling.
