Tasting Notes
Cult status wine. Jakot, or Tokaj backwards, is an amber wine made from Tokaj Friulano. It's the most concentrated of the Radikon orange/amber wines. It's aged prior to release so drinking can begin immediately, but these wines will kick on for many decades to come. It is as radical as the producer themselves, so choose who you open this with wisely. - Chris L
This Radikon is the most fruity, floral and smooth in the range with a nose that starts with apricot, nectarine, cheese rind, marmalade, chamomile and golden flowers. This evolves dramatically with each glass moving on to mandarin and chalk, then to grapefruit skin and crushed daisies, then to honey and sunflowers and finally blood orange and cherry. This has mouth-tingling acidity and tannins that add grippy texture as opposed to the chalkier, drying tannins of the other Radikon wines. Sensational. - Aaron C.
Radikon is a legendary family estate near Oslavia in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, founded by Stanko Radikon in the late 1970s and now carried forward by his son Saša. The estate has played a pioneering role in the modern orange wine movement, reviving traditional methods of extended skin contact—sometimes lasting several months—to create powerful, textured whites and select reds that defy convention.
Farming is fully organic, yields are remarkably low, and vineyard parcels of Ribolla Gialla, Tocai Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Pignolo are planted densely on steep, mineral-rich soils. In the cellar, grapes are destemmed and macerated in large oak vats, fermented naturally, and aged in old wood with minimal or no sulfur—favoring authenticity and clarity over polish.
Radikon’s wines are renowned for their intense amber color, layered aromatics, racy tannin structure, and extraordinary aging potential. Each bottle is an immersive expression of Friuli’s rugged terrain and Stanko’s radical vision, now evolving under Saša’s subtle refinements and continued commitment to terroir and innovation.
