Tasting Notes

I certainly get the hype about these wines. This is Tassie Chardonnay the way I like it with everything dialled up a notch. It's a generous wine with volume and depth yet still retains that hallmark Tasmanian coiled acidity that gives the wine tension and drive. It's sits in the orchard fruit spectrum with hints of sesame seed, grilled nuts and almond meal with a faint lick of new oak. This will improve with age but is drinking lovely right now. - Pete L

Rivulet is the label of Tasmanian winemaker Keira O'Brien, built around the belief that exceptional vineyards deserve an equally thoughtful and restrained approach in the winery. Working with small parcels of fruit from some of Tasmania's most distinctive sites, the focus is firmly on expressing place through wines of purity, texture and balance rather than winemaking influence.

Fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyards across Tasmania, many of them mature, dry-grown sites farmed by families with generations of history. Winemaking is intentionally gentle, with hand harvesting, wild fermentations, oxidative handling where appropriate, extended lees ageing and minimal additions used to build texture while preserving freshness and site expression. Each wine is made in tiny quantities and reflects both the individuality of the vineyard and the character of the season.

Rivulet's wines embody everything that makes Tasmania one of the world's great cool-climate regions—precision, energy and elegance—while remaining approachable, quietly complex and made with an unmistakably human touch.
