Tasting Notes
I am a recent convert to the Rivulet wines and like many in the industry are very exciting by these wines. This Pinot Noir from a nearly 30 year old dry grown site in the Huon Valley was fantastic when I tasted it. It's more powerful that many other Tassie Pinots I've had lately but handled with finesse. The fruit leans darker from ripe cherry into ripe plum with hints of dried leaves and savoury undergrowth. This wine is in a great spot now but I am certain it will look better in a few years time. - Pete L
Rivulet is the label of Tasmanian winemaker Keira O'Brien, built around the belief that exceptional vineyards deserve an equally thoughtful and restrained approach in the winery. Working with small parcels of fruit from some of Tasmania's most distinctive sites, the focus is firmly on expressing place through wines of purity, texture and balance rather than winemaking influence.
Fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyards across Tasmania, many of them mature, dry-grown sites farmed by families with generations of history. Winemaking is intentionally gentle, with hand harvesting, wild fermentations, oxidative handling where appropriate, extended lees ageing and minimal additions used to build texture while preserving freshness and site expression. Each wine is made in tiny quantities and reflects both the individuality of the vineyard and the character of the season.
Rivulet's wines embody everything that makes Tasmania one of the world's great cool-climate regions—precision, energy and elegance—while remaining approachable, quietly complex and made with an unmistakably human touch.
