Tasting Notes
This stunner is coming from one of the Loire's most respected domaines, now coming exclusively from the Poyeux terroir in Chaintres, the same small corner of the appellation farmed by the legendary Clos Rougeard. Fruit is from 50 year-old vines with very shallow topsoil over limestone bedrock, fully de-stemmed and fermented in cement (with some foot stomping) before maturation in 60HL neutral wooden vats. This is elegant, vibrant and so well put together, ripe spiced berry fruit on a silky, mineral driven palate with real lift and freshness from the limestone underneath. - Pete L
