Tasting Notes
Australian Grenache has moved a long way from the big, sweet, jammy styles of the past, and off the right sites it's now one of our most perfumed and elegant reds, all bright strawberry, raspberry and red cherry with a lifted floral note and a wash of warm spice. This one comes off two Blewitt Springs vineyards, the Brini Vineyard at 160 to 200 metres elevation and another remarkable site just down the road planted back in 1924, both dry-grown bush vines rooted in deep sandy soils over ironstone.
The result is a wine of real fruit concentration, perfume and structure, red-fruited and finely textured with the gritty, sandy tannins that Blewitt Springs is known for, a Grenache that speaks of elegance, place and restraint. - Aaron C
