Tasting Notes
Cool colour! Lifted aromatics of layered citrus peel and a similar palate to boot. It's tasty and operatic as the wine speaks different volumes and tones ("when it hits your lips, it's so good"). The palate is a tad hard when initially opened, but given time to breath it will sing a much nicer song. - Chris L
The semillon was also planted in 1978 however it is from the south facing side of our farm, which has a higher gravel content. This wine is very dear to us as it does not always produce a sufficient crop. Post harvest the grapes are pressed directly into concrete eggs where the wine remained for 10 months. It was then racked into stainless to allow for any sediment to settle. - Winery Note
Si Vintners is made up of two qualified winemakers (husband and wife) who in September of 2010 purchased a 30 acre estate with 20 acres under vine (majority planted in 1978)."The property is situated just south of the Margaret River township in an area called Rosa Glen. Our motivation is to hand craft natural wines, which are expressive of the vineyard and sub-region.Since purchasing the property, the vineyard has been farmed 100% organic/biodynamic. "All our wines are made without any of the usual additives used in commercial winemaking, apart from a small sulphur addition at bottling. We bottle our wines without fining or filtration as we believe that these processes take away aromas and flavours from the wine. We believe a little sediment in the bottom of the bottle only creates a more authentic wine."
