Tasting Notes
This is proper thirst-quenching Rioja from Sierra de Toloño, a village red built on organically farmed, dry grown Tempranillo off cool, high altitude vineyards. It's made simply and honestly, wild fermented and aged a year in old neutral oak, so there's a purity of fruit not often seen at this price point. Expect succulent strawberry and red cherry with cool, dark-fruited depth, a lift of soft florals and a savoury undertone of pine and wild thyme. Fresh, juicy and zippy with fine tannins, it seriously over delivers. Hard to beat. - Pete L
