Tasting Notes
This year sees Cabernet make up the majority of the blend with some Shirax. It's rich, brassy and irreverent just like the guys who make it. Fun wine. - Winery Note
Except from Bibendum Wine Co..."Col McBryde and Jen Gardner (of Adelina Wines) got together with good friend Nic Bourke in 2006 to establish the Some Young Punks label. The first release, Passion has Red Lips, had a label based on an early 1900s Pulp Fiction novel. It was one of the most striking labels we'd seen for some time. The second release was a Barbera labelled Naked on Roller Skates. Needless to say, many in the trade - one gentleman in particular - were bitterly disappointed when their allocations arrived 'sans bush " so to speak, with all nudity discreetly covered. The new labels Monster's Attack, Squid's Fist, Quickie etc are as eye-catching as ever. Despite the humour and fun reflected by these labels, the Adelina team is deadly serious when it comes to their wines. The small scale production is traditional and minimalist with hand-picking in small lots, indigenous yeast fermentations, basket pressing and no filtration. The Punks (aka Col, Jen & Nic) source fruit from all over South Australia and the wine is made principally at the Adelina winery. This is a producer well worth following!"
