Tasting Notes
Mind. Blown. Intersting and uniquely Lacrima... from what I know of the full bodied variety. Blackberry fruits and a bouquet of herbs dominate this flourishing wine. There is so much going on. The palate is rich and full flavoured with plenty of tannin that will keep this wine in the cellar for a few more years if you desire. - Chris L
Born in Melbourne, brought up in the Riverland then settling in Tasmania, Steve Lubiana's life has always been surrounded by vines or wines. With over 20 years of winemaking in Granton he has developed the enviable reputation as one of the most innovative and progressive winemakers in Tasmania.
There is an artistic wildness in his wines balanced with a sense of time and place. His driving professionalism with a fastidious attention to detail (bordering on OCD) is somewhat tempered by his devotion to biodynamic practices in the vineyard and winery.
As a fifth generation winemaker he makes some blisteringly good wines, always beautifully drinkable with balance and his signature savouriness.
"We are focused entirely upon producing small quantities of handcrafted wines from grape to glass in the island state's cool maritime climate.
We started our vineyard with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir back in 1991 and through the years have added Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot to name a few.
We have established a modern, well equipped, gravity fed winery. Our state-of-the-art onsite facilities enable us to ensure the highest quality is retained at each stage of the process, from grape sorting to bottling and packaging".
