Tasting Notes
Planted in 1858 and the 1940s, the two Shiraz blocks at Stonegarden offer fruit with remarkable depth and concentration, shaped by the cool Eden Valley climate into wines of spice, restraint, and vibrant natural acidity. The 2021 vintage was a rare gift—what some call a “Goldilocks” or even “unicorn” year—where perfect conditions aligned to showcase Eden Valley at its finest. Hand-harvested in two passes, 15 days apart, the first pick preserved freshness and white pepper notes, while the second added plush tannins, allspice, and dark red fruit, with 20% whole bunches enhancing complexity and structure. The wine was matured in 500L French oak, 25% new, the rest seasoned, allowing it to develop gracefully. Seductive and poised, it’s just beginning to unfurl after two years in bottle, with a long life clearly ahead. - Producer Note
