Tasting Notes
From an old-vine parcel on clay-limestone soils, Champ Forey shows lifted aromas of pear, quince and citrus blossom, layered with hints of almond and spice. The palate has more weight and texture than the straight Aligoté, yet retains fine acidity and mineral drive. Balanced, savoury and long, it demonstrates the variety’s capacity for depth. - Chris L
“Five Stars. Fuller yellow, with the grape skin and apple character of very good Aligoté. It is worth spending time over the nose. This is just immaculate, with such intensity behind and just a little wood. Seems ready to bottle whereas the 2021 needed 24 months. Very long behind. Effortless! Drink from 2025-2030.” 90-92 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
Less is more! Minimal intervention or Lo-fi wines encapsulate those producers who keep additions and manipulations to a minimum during the winemaking process. This means the wines are wild fermented, unfiltered and unfined, and only add sulfur during the process.
