Tasting Notes

Fish In A Tin is Vermentino, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul from the Riverland that spends a little over two weeks on skins adding grip and texture to a palate that is laden with green apple and hard slightly under ripe orchard fruits sprinkled with sea salt. Green apple acidity acts as a drawstring pulling the wine together wrapping it around a textural and moreish frame that keeps pulling you back in glass after glass. - Pete L

Table Wines is a small South Australian producer built around a simple idea — making interesting wines that are ultimately meant to be drunk and enjoyed. Based in Adelaide, they focus on emerging and climate-appropriate varieties, particularly Mediterranean grapes that are naturally suited to South Australia’s warm, dry conditions.

Much of the fruit comes from the Bassham family in the Riverland, third-generation growers who farm organically and have become known for their diverse collection of alternative varieties. Macabeo, Pecorino, Vermentino, Nero d’Avola and Mencía are among the grapes that find their way into the range. The winemaking is deliberately unfussy and minimal, with freshness, texture and drinkability at the centre of everything they do.

There’s a playful side to Table Wines, but the thinking behind the project is serious — working with varieties that make sense for the future of Australian wine, supporting thoughtful farming and packaging responsibly. The wines are bright, characterful and made for exactly what the name suggests: putting on the table with food and friends.
