Tasting Notes
Tenuta delle Terre Nere Calderara Sottana Rosso (Etna) is framed by its striking volcanic origin—pumice and basalt stones that radiate warmth by day and retain it by night, imparting a profound mineral presence. The wine opens with aromas of grilled herbs, ashen stone, dried black cherry, and scented orange peel, weaving together an expression of earthy spice and aromatic clarity. On the palate, plush wild berries meet vibrant, brisk acidity and a streak of saline minerality, all anchored by firm yet refined tannins that extend through a long, tension-filled finish. Elegant and powerful, it’s both thrilling now and primed for graceful aging. - Chris L
Less is more! Minimal intervention or Lo-fi wines encapsulate those producers who keep additions and manipulations to a minimum during the winemaking process. This means the wines are wild fermented, unfiltered and unfined, and only add sulfur during the process.
