Tasting Notes
Proper honest Sangiovese, this. It's biodynamically farmed on schist soils, which is a bit unusual for the variety, off vines around twenty years old. Everything's kept simple in the cellar, a spontaneous ferment kicked off with a pied de cuve, a good long three to five weeks on skins, then sixteen months mellowing in big old 30hl casks before bottling with barely any fuss. Expect classic Sangiovese in the glass, all savoury red cherry with a bit of grip. Nothing flashy about it, just the real deal. - Pete L
